A new pilot program aims to offer electric car sharing options and deploy 1.5 million electric vehicles to some of LA’s low-income communities by 2025, officials announced Friday.

The $1.6 million project will provide 100 electric and hybrid cars for residents to use in South LA, Westlake District, Pico Union and Koreatown.

Electric cars and hybrid cars will now be available to residents in low-income Los Angeles neighborhoods under a car-sharing program funded through a state grant.
